SALARY Up to $90,000 + Great Benefits & Paid Relocation to the Southern USA
 
Growing manufacturer has added a Packaging Engineer to their Southern manufacturing facility.  This award winning building supplies manufacturer needs a Packaging Engineer to lead the design & improvements of the ACTUAL packaging and the process of getting the product into the packaging.  Looking to increase efficiency & ensure the quality of the product upon delivery to the customer.
 
NOTE:  We are NOT seeking expertise in the graphics that go on the carton.  We are seeking an expert who can CREATE a package that protects our product & its quality.
 
As the Packaging Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading continuous improvements of the packaging design process that will decrease the damage from shipping & handling
  • Creating a measureable cost reduction using Kaizen, 5S, & other cost reduction & efficiency improvements
  • Planning the packaging process, organizing supplies & resources needed
  • Coordinating deadlines & best prices with purchasing & vendors
  • Directing implementation of improvements with maintenance
  • Working with plant management to prioritize & implement corporate initiatives.

Requirements for this Packaging Engineer position:
  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering
  • At least 1 year’ project management experience in a manufacturing plant
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S
  • Skilled at CAD, ISO,  Value Stream Mapping & Six Sigma
  • Experience with cost & value analysis or ROI
  • Experience working with suppliers & vendors.
 
What will get you immediate consideration for this Packaging Engineering position?
  • BS Packaging Engineering or Advanced degree
  • Certifications such as PE, PMI, IIE, AME
  • Continuous Improvement implementation experience
  • Experience with cardboard, wood, stretch wrap for packaging.
